What people use 1 to 10 for
- Guessing games: "I'm thinking of a number between 1 and 10."
- Choosing between up to ten options: number the options, then generate.
- Raffles and draws for small groups: give each person a number and pick the winner.
- Ratings and challenges: pick a random score, level or turn order.
- Classroom activities: call a random pupil number or choose a question.
Is it truly random?
Yes. The number is chosen with your browser's cryptographic random number generator, with a method that removes any bias, so 1 is exactly as likely as 10. Past results do not affect the next one, which is why you can see the same number twice in a row. For more on this, read about the gambler's fallacy.
Need a different range?
For a bigger range, use random number 1 to 100, or set your own minimum and maximum in the full random number generator. For a six-sided roll, try the dice roller.
